VISION AND HEARING
-
Vision screening is required annually for all children in special education, children new to the district, and teacher/parent referrals. Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor. A vision screening is not required only if a parent provides a copy of a vision exam report done within the previous 12 months. If a vision exam report is not on file at the school for your child, your child will be screened.
Students wearing glasses are not routinely instrument screened. A glasses referral letter will be sent if glasses are reported as "lost" or "broken," or it has been two years since the student's last exam.
Hearing screenings are required annually for all children in special education, children new to the district, and teacher/parent referrals.
Students with hearing aids are not screened. Students with known hearing loss, receiving services or under a doctor's care are asked to provide a copy of the yearly Audiological report.
