CAD students sketch up success
District 230’s Carl Sandburg High School CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and Engineering students recently competed in the Illinois Design Educators Association (IDEA) State CAD Competition held at Illinois State University. The competition involved the top 200 CAD and Design students from across the state who previously qualified by placing first or second in their Regional contest. Students compete in their areas of expertise by completing hands-on skill-based problems judged by Illinois State instructors. Of the eleven divisions, Sandburg competed in five and medaled in three. Senior Logan Zerfass finished 1st place in the Introductory CAD division with a perfect score and was named a State Champion. This marks the third State Champion in the past four years for Sandburg in that division. Congratulations also to senior Jacob Sexton who took home 2nd place in 3D Architectural Modeling, and senior Monica Jagodka who took home 3rd place in 3D Machine CAD. Senior Nathan Fuentebella competed in 3D CAD Modeling and senior Patrick Bigos competed in 2D Machine CAD. Making it to the State level is a huge accomplishment and all of these students had finished in 1st place at the Moraine Valley Regional to qualify. Please congratulate these students:
