DeCraene named Assistant Principal of Activities
The Consolidated High School District 230 Board of Education approved Andrew DeCraene as Amos Alonzo Stagg High School’s new Assistant Principal of Activities. He will move from his current position as Head Dean and replace Dr. Mary Pat Carr, who is assuming the role of Director of Safety and Security.
DeCraene began his career in District 230 in 2006 as a dean of students at Sandburg High School, then advanced to head dean in 2011. In 2022, he transferred to Stagg High School as head dean.
Stagg principal Eric Olsen said, “As Head Dean, Andy played a pivotal role in fostering a positive and inclusive school environment. He will continue to help strengthen the culture and climate at Stagg and will help students academically and socially as well. Students who are involved in co-curricular activities generally perform better academically than those who are not. One of the key components as the assistant principal of activities will be to encourage every student to find an activity to join, which will ultimately help them engage with school.”
DeCraene said, “I am excited to take the role of Assistant Principal at Stagg for the upcoming school year. I'm looking forward to working with the students, staff, and community in this capacity and continuing our efforts to make Stagg a special place for students to learn and grow in every aspect during their time here.”
DeCraene is a graduate of Benedictine University and North Central College.
